Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) - VB-G RAM G

The Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025—commonly abbreviated as VB-G RAM G—is India's statutory rural employment and livelihood law passed by Parliament to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005. The scheme came into effect in the rural areas of the country on July 1, 2026

Key Features of the Scheme

  • 125 Days of Guaranteed Employment: Increases the statutory entitlement from 100 days to 125 days of guaranteed wage employment per financial year for rural households willing to do unskilled manual labor.

  • Minimum Base Daily Wage: Sets a baseline minimum daily wage of ₹300.

  • Agricultural Seasonal Pause: Allows state governments to declare a mandatory pause of up to 60 days in public works during peak sowing and harvesting seasons to prevent rural labor shortages for agriculture.

  • 4-Priority Infrastructure Focus: Shifts the scope of public works toward four main areas: water security, durable rural infrastructure, livelihood support (markets, warehouses, farming support), and climate resilience.

  • Funding Model (Centrally Sponsored): Changes the funding pattern from a 100% central wage coverage to a cost-sharing framework: 60:40 (Centre:State) for general states and 90:10 for Himalayan/Northeastern states and Union Territories.

  • Technology & Monitoring: Mandates digital governance features including GPS tracking of worksites, biometric eKYC attendance, AI-enabled fraud detection, and integrated Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPP).

  • Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card: Replaces the former MGNREGA Job Card with a digitalized Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card.
